Well folks, it's been a while. I've been off making my movie. That's right. The Feature film "Get Faamous" is completed. Finally. It's taken up all of my time, so I haven't made an entry for months. But I thought it was only fitting that we hit you with the trailer to give you a glimpse of wht we've been up to . Please leave comments. We'd love to know what you think.

Decision

What up peoples? It's ya boy again bringing you adventures from the life of an aspiring celebrity. My partners and I had a meeting by phone yesterday and we made a decision to move ahead with shooting another feature film. We were waiting on some things, but after talking to Spike, among other people, I've come to the conclusion that no one is going to help us until we step out on faith and take some risk. An independent film is a risk too, no doubt about it. You risk money, you risk failure. It's not an easy thing. But we've already done it one time. Our first feature blew up to the point where people on the streets of NYC recognized me on a regular basis. On the bus, in McDonalds, at the post office, all kinds of people would come up to me and tell me how they'd seen my film in theatres or on TV and how much they liked it. It was a great feeling to know so many people watched and enjoyed my film.

The photo above is from our short film that we just completed called, what else...Get Faamous. It's a mini version of the feature film we'll be doing next. I'll be posting a link here soon so everyone can watch the trailer from that film. So from here on out, part of the blog will be me keeping you posted on the ongoing drama in getting that feature film made. It's gonna be crazy, but it should still be fun. Hell, movies are what I want to do, so if we've got to do 'em on our own till we get discovered, so be it. They say making a decision, if you stick to it, can set forces in motion that will change the course of your life. Let's see where this one takes me. Stay tuned.

Spike Lee

Got a chance to meet Spike Lee tonight, for the second time. I interviewed him last year for a show I was producing at the time called Weekend Vibe. Tonight’s quick meeting was after a screening of the TV Land special coming up February 1st called “That’s What I’m Talking About”, a talk show dealing with how African-Americans have affected American pop culture. The show, by the way, was great and I would recommend you check it out. But afterwards, there was a panel discussion that included Spike. I saw him quickly trying to dip out after the discussion and reminded him of our interview. He was polite but in a hurry, and referred me to his publicist when I mentioned a follow up interview. All of this was supposed to be an opening to have him watch my short film Get Faamous. It’s a fifteen minute version of a feature film I’m raising money to produce. It's going to be my breakthrough film as a writer/director. Unfortunately, I never got the chance. Our conversation lasted a total of about 15 seconds before he had to rush off. I guess I’ll have to be quicker on the draw next time. Lesson learned. In the meantime I’m sending a DVD of Get Faamous to his publicist. I’ve got get on my job if I’m going to make Brian Evans a household name.

Welcome to the Get Faamous (intentionally misspelled) blog! My name is Brian Evans. I am a writer, director, producer, actor on a quest to, well...Get Famous. It's not that I think fame is such a great thing. I mean you lose your privacy, get hassled everytime you leave the house, and if your name is Jennifer Aniston or Brad Pitt, you get a play by play of your break-ups plastered across the newstands of every local supermarket in the country. But there are are some advantages, like floor seats to the Knicks, never waiting for a table at your favorite restaurant, and having the cache to get your own films made, which just so happens to be all I really want to do.

If you'll notice in my picture, I'm holding a sign that says F%@# Work, Get Famous. That's my motto. I've hated every job I ever had. While working as a mailclerk for a television network, I decided to say F%@# Work! and I taught myself how to make films. Believe me, I'd much rather have gone to film school, but I couldn't afford it, so I basically went to study at the best library in the world, the Barnes and Noble bookstore. They let you read all you want in there without buying anything, so I read every book they had on how to write screenplays, and make movies. The rest of the story is longer that I want to tell today, but it started me off on an adventure that helped me figure out the thing I want to do for the rest of my life, which is to make films. So F#@% Work should really say F#@% a 9-5. I hate anything to do with working in an office all day, so I figured I'd reach out to all of you who hate your 9-5 job, your boss, or are just not satisfied with how your life has turned out so far.

This blog will follow my ups and my downs as I head down the road from complete obsurity, to becoming a household name (I know that's a tall order, but I'm about to make it happen). I'll track my auditions, film and production work, and some of my personal life. I hope the stories of my successes and failures will amuse, entertain and maybe even inspire some of you guys who are out there trying to make your own thing happen. Stick with me people. This is going to be some ride.
